Our ginger-haired girl has returned to her little place beneath the olive tree, leaving the sea behind her. She sits barefoot on the woven mat with a light towel wrapped loosely around her shoulders, her wet ginger hair falling naturally down her back. Tiny drops of seawater still glisten across her skin as the warm Mediterranean sun slowly dries her. Her deep copper-red dachshund, with his recognizable long body and slightly tousled coat, has already claimed the softest part of the towel. He lies curled beside her, facing the sea like a tiny guardian, his dark eyes following every movement along the shoreline.
