Soft morning light rests gently over a quiet Greek beach, turning the shallow water silver-blue and warming the pale sand. Our ginger-haired girl has just arrived, walking barefoot toward the shore with a rolled woven beach mat under one arm and a folded parasol in the other. Her hair catches the first warm sunlight, loose strands moving softly in the sea breeze. Beside her trots a small family dog, already exploring the unfamiliar sand with cheerful curiosity. She pauses beneath the natural shade of an old olive tree, looking toward the empty stretch of beach as if choosing her little place by the sea. The water is almost perfectly still, with only tiny ripples reaching the shore. Behind her, half-hidden in the soft morning haze, a distant island and the faint silhouette of Mount Athos emerge quietly on the horizon, almost dreamlike, never competing with the intimate foreground. A small sprig of lavender is tucked naturally into the woven beach bag, our recurring little symbol carried from one Mediterranean moment to the next.
