The soft Mediterranean morning has warmed just enough for our ginger-haired girl to begin creating her little place by the sea. Her woven beach mat is now spread across the pale sand beneath the shade of an old olive tree, its corners still slightly uneven where her hands have just smoothed them down. Beside it, she opens a simple linen parasol, letting the fabric catch the gentle breeze. The small family dog has already decided that the mat belongs to him. He circles twice, drops onto one corner and looks up at her with complete satisfaction while she laughs and tries to move him aside. Her beach bag rests nearby, with a tiny sprig of lavender tucked naturally into its woven handle — our quiet recurring symbol. The water remains calm and luminous, while the distant island and faint silhouette of Mount Athos are softened almost completely by the morning haze. Impasto gives physical weight to the warm sand, woven mat, linen parasol, olive bark and ginger hair. Palette Knife builds the scene through confident structural strokes — the tree canopy, parasol, shoreline and relaxed figures forming a natural composition.
