ArtistA large, underground cavern. On the right side, a large archway lined with stones covered in ancient runes is filled with a shimmering multi-colored energy field. The left side of the cavern is lined with wooden shelves following the curve of the wall. The shelves are covered with preserving jars filled with luminous swirls of different colors, such as reds, yellows, greens, purples, oranges or blues. In the center a single jar filled with luminous, honey colored swirls stands open on a table. A luminiscent, honey colored cloud emanates from the jar on the table and in the cloud can be seen an image of a menacing monster with luminous yellow eyes under a bed in a dark room. A kitten lies in the bed with the covers up to its chin. The kitten is shivvering and clearly scared. An anthropomorphic black cat in black leather clothes with a black mask stands in front of the table and holds the lid of the jar. Behind the anthropomorphic black cat, three anthropomorphic cats stand on their hind legs and watch the scene. The first cat is fully white, the second cat is orange and roundish and the third cat is an elderly tabby. The three anthropomorphic cats wear red robes and cloaks and carry a rapier in a sheath attached to their belt.
The cat burglar opens a magical portal and invites the three Wiskerteers to his secret hidout, a cave deep in the mountains that cannot be reached by natural means. There he explains to them his true purpose. "Yes I am a burglar, just as people say," he sais, "but all I steal are the nightmares of little kittens, so that they may sleep peacefully at night. I bottle the nightmares up and bring them here, so that they cannot harm anyone." To show the truth of what he is saying he takes one of the jars from its shelf and places it on the table. Then he opens the jar allowing the fearsome apparition within to escape.
"So this," sais Athena, "is why those you visit never report anything stolen. No one would miss a nightmare they didn't have."
"Precisely," replies the cat burglar. "I hope you can all appreciate how important my mission is."
"We do," Artemis assures him. "And fear not, your secret is safe with us."
"But that does not get us any closer to the answer we seek," Purrsephone reminds them. "Do you know who has stolen the tennis balls in Caninia?"
"My powers end at the borders of Purrsepolis," the cat burglar replies. "If anyone in this country had done - or even planned - something nefarious, I would know. But in this matter, I have no information for you."
"But then, doesn't that mean that no cat is behind this crime?" Athena exclaims.
"Not exactly," the cat burglar explains. "They could have planned the operation outside of Purrsepolis."
