ArtistA hall made of rough-hewn stone. There are wooden shelves along three walls. The shelves along one wall contain massive, leather-bound record books, the shelves around the second wall contain scrolls with tags on them, the shelves along the third wall contain more leather-bound ledgers. Several shelves run through the middle of the room containing more ledgers and scrolls. In the front, an anthropomorphic Newfoundland dog stands on his hind legs behind a worn wooden counter. The anthropomorphic Newfoundland dog wears navy blue pants and a navy blue vest as well as a navy blue sailor's cap. Two anthropomorphic dogs, a German spaniel and a transylvanian hound, stand on their hind legs in front of the counter looking at the anthropomorphic Newfoundland. The anthropomorphic german spaniel has uniform glossy reddish-brown fur that shimmers in the light. The anthropomorphic german spaniel wears an elegant dark green dress and carries a brown leather bag on its right side with the strap of the bag draped over the spaniel's left shoulder. The anthropomorphic transylvanian hound wears black robes and a black cloak with a high collar and prominently shows his long canines protruding past his lower lip.
At the port authorities of Caninia, the clerk is eager to help Agatha Misty and Lord Dogula in any way he can. He searches through the records and informs them that only three merchants have imported Snakelorian Sunsteel - legally at least - within the last year. The first is Sir Barker Griffon, the supplier for the royal court and army, a most honorable captain and entrepreneur. The second is the Canine Cosmopolitan Company, an organization that sepcializes in the trading of metals and minerals of all kinds, they are reputable enough, though not as prestigious as Sir Barker. The third is a Trader by the name of Störte Becker. This trader, the clerk informs them, is a strange fellow. His papers always seem suspiciously in order, yet the experienced port administators cannot shake the feeling that Störte Becker would not shy away from shady dealings if it profited him. They also suspect him of being in the pay of Don Mastiffioso, but they have never been able to prove a link.
Agatha Misty thanks the clerk and asks where she can find this Störte Becker. Unfortunately he has set sail for the port of Otterwa, the port city of the land of Otters. Agatha Misty and Lord Dogula ask the clerk to detain Störte Becker for questioning upon his return. Then they decide to visit the blacksmith's guild's record hall to find out who has a licence to work with Snakelorian Sunsteel.
