ArtistA cobble stone street with timber-framed houses on both sides. The view shows a traditional blacksmith's workshop open to the street. Standing next to the anvil, an anthropomorphic great dane holds a hammer in its right paw. The anthropomorphic great dane stands on its hind legs and wears traditional blacksmith's clothes and a traditional blacksmith's apron. Standing on the street facing the anthropomorphic great dane, an anthropomorphic German spaniel stands on its hind legs. The anthropomorphic german spaniel has uniform glossy reddish-brown fur that shimmers in the light. The anthropomorphic german spaniel wears an elegant dark green dress and carries a brown leather bag on its right side with the strap of the bag draped over the spaniel's left shoulder. The anthropomorphic german spaniel holds a large broken metal door hinge in its paws and shows it to the anthropomorphic great dane. Next to the german spaniel, an anthropomorphic transylvanian hound stands on his hind legs. The anthropomorphic transylvanian hound wears black robes and a black cloak with a high collar and prominently shows his long canines protruding past his lower lip.
In Caninia, Agatha Misty decides to take the broken hinge to a blacksmith for assessment. The blacksmith examines the hinge and asserts that the hinge was very well made of finest quality Caninian steel. The hinge shows hardly any sign of rust and was in excellent condition when it was broken. In order to break such a hard material in such a short amount of time, the thieves would have needed to use a special tool forged of a special kind of steel known as Snakelorian Sunsteel. Knowledge concerning the production of this steel is jealously guarded by Snakelorian blacksmiths and only few blacksmiths outside of the Kingdom of Snaklorien even know how to process this special steel. Snakelorien exports both tools and weapons made of this Sunsteel to many countries. But because of the high prices, both tools and weapons are exceedingly rare and precious.
The blacksmith also informs Agatha Misty that many craftsmen who work with Snakelorian Sunsteel tend to weave spells into their products. If this was the case for the tool, most likely some kind of large pliers, used to break the hinge, they may have added a silencing spell, allowing them to break the hinge without making any noise.
This is all very disconcerting. Lord Dogula suggest going to the port authorities to find out who imports Snakelorian Sunsteel and which tools were imported. He also suggests going to the blacksmith's guild's record hall to find out who has a licence to work with Snakelorian Sunsteel. What remains unspoken, but definitely understood by both Agatha Misty and Lord Dogula, are the potential political implications of this discovery.
