ArtistA dark night with barely a sliver of moonlight, half hidden behind clouds. A narrow Roman-style street with Roman-style buildings on either side. On one side a building with narrow rectangular openings at the bottom, the openings have thick bars in them, like prison cells. Artemis, an anthropomorphic fully white cat with blue eyes in red robes and a red cloak, carries a rapier in a sheath attached to her belt. Artemis kneels on the pavement holding the bars of one of the windows intently peering inside. Agatha, an anthropomorphic German spaniel with uniform glossy reddish-brown fur that shimmers in the light. Agatha wears an elegant dark green dress and carries a brown leather bag on her right side with the strap of the bag draped over Agatha's left shoulder. Athena, an anthropomorphic elderly tabby cat with green eyes in red robes and a red cloak, carries a rapier in a sheath attached to her belt. Purrsephone, an anthropomorphic orange and roundish cat with amber eyes in red robes and a red cloak, carries a rapier in a sheath attached to her belt. Dogula, an anthropomorphic Transylvanian hound. Dogula wears black robes and a black cloak with a high collar and prominently shows his long canines protruding past his lower lip. Dogula holds a staff made of ebony which has a faintly glowing moonstone inset at the top. Agatha, Athena, Purrsephone and Dogula all stand behind Artemis. Dogula holds an ornate wooden box with gold fittings. Purrsephone looks down the street.
Artemis wastes no time informing her friends of her discovery. Lord Falacar further informs them that most people in Antium are unaware of his imprisonment. His son has told them that he is ill and that Lord Laverno will rule in his stead.
“I am convinced that many guards are still loyal to me,” he tells them. “If you can get me out of here, I could tell them that we called upon you to help with my illness. Then you could accompany me into the palace.”
“An excellent idea,” Lord Dogula replies. “I could claim that I used the power of the moon to heal you. That way, they won't wonder why we are out and about at night.”
Lord Dogula examines the bars. The tricky part is to break them without making a sound.
