An abandoned room or place, or also car is almost always a place where new life can take place. Something mostly natural, where plants and animal come and go, so not disturb anybody and are not disturbed, can drink and stay as long as they want, don't need to pay, don't need to go home, are not endangered, are staying healthy.
That's a place i'd like to live in if I was a bird or a cat.
