Chapter 6: Signs of Change
--
Years passed with the gentle rhythm of life in the zoo. Echo thrived, basking in the love and care of Ben, who never missed an opportunity to give him an extra treat. Echo knew Ben was special, a true friend. The zoo had become a haven, filled with his brown bear companions and the reassuring presence of Ben.
For five years, Echo lived happily and peacefully, content with his surroundings and the camaraderie he shared with the other bears. Yet, recently, Echo noticed something different in Ben. The zookeeper’s usual cheerful demeanor had given way to worry. Echo’s keen eyes observed the changes, and his heart felt uneasy.
One of Echo’s best friends had fallen ill and was moved to a separate enclosure for care. This alone was troubling, but Ben’s troubled face hinted at something far more serious. Echo often saw Ben with a furrowed brow, lost in thought, and it made him anxious.
One day, as Echo played with a butterfly that fluttered near his nose, he saw something that broke his heart. Ben was standing by the enclosure’s edge, tears streaming down his face. Echo froze, the butterfly forgotten, his focus solely on Ben’s sorrow.
Seeing Ben cry was a sight Echo couldn’t bear. His friend, who had always been a source of strength and joy, was now in visible pain. Echo felt a desperate need to understand what was happening. He watched Ben closely, trying to piece together the cause of his distress.
Echo needed to know what was going on. With a determined heart, he decided he would find a way to comfort his friend and uncover the reason behind Ben’s tears. For in the bond they shared, Echo knew he couldn’t remain a silent observer. Ben had always been there for him, and now it was Echo’s turn to be there for Ben.
