Admittedly some of these are veering into orientalism, which, although aestheticist pleasing, I do recognise is potentially problematic.
Anyway, last night the word 'Supine' popped into my head, Jonathan Ross saying it on QI once, and for some reason I imagined some sort of alien goddess/priestess lying in Sphinx pose (mistakenly thinking that's what supine meant at the time) set in an Egyptian inspired temple. So here's a series exploring this idea. I ended up having to mock up an underpainting with a stock photo for the pose, roughly painted over and heavily reworked, because the AI didn't seem to know what Sphinx pose / Salamba Bhujangasana is and kept doing a strange bent plank position thing. I'm glad that I spent some time working on the 'underpainting', because in trying to add more interest to the background I added those columns and I think they work quite well to add interest and strengthen the composition.
