A finely embroidered silk thread tapestry on a translucent silk background, two Eurasian jays (Garrulus glandarius), one in flight, over a background of plum blossoms and leaves. Deep colors, intricately detailed, a beautifully balanced lively composition of elegant simplicity in the style of Ohara Kolson
This was inspired by and adapted from a beautiful dream of magpies by dreamer Felicia, 'Two for Joy'. See the original here: https://deepdreamgenerator.com/ddream/5meln5udwrr
When we toured a silk factory in China, their showroom was full of the most incredible embroideries on tightly stretched translucent silk. Often other works nearby formed faint patterns through the silk, which could create some interesting ghostly effects. I tried to catch that here, but it didn't work very well. Still, the birds are quite lovely. The Eurasian jay is a very eye-catching bird.
One beautiful afternoon, I watched a couple of these flashy birds in the gardens that are part of the Huangling Temple, or the "Yellow Ox Temple," which is the oldest and largest ancient building in the Three Gorges region. It commemorates a legendary yellow ox that helped Yu the Great split the mountains to stop floods.
