Illustrated in the meticulously detailed ink and watercolor style of the golden age of classic children's books; a small clearing deep within a magical forest where the trees have faces and the high canopy only allows a small glimpse of the sky overhead, a fox, a badger, and a raven have come to share their tales of humans outside the forest; the fox is animatedly telling his tale while the raven and fox wait their turn; around them are gathered the tiny fairyfolk, who sit with full attention listening to their stories, some stories are funny and some stories are cautionary tales; the overall sense of this forest is its hidden nature, protecting the fairy folk from the human world
I imagine an enchanted forest just outside our reality in which the fairyfolk remain safe from human encroachment. The wily critters can move between the enchanted forest and the regular forest. And they bring back stories of human behavior to entertain the faefolk, but also as cautionary tales about their reality.
