Prompt

Surreal sci-fi arrival ceremony on an alien world, with one woman in high-tech bodysuit emerging from an arched portal, one man in dark futuristic formalwear standing at attention before a bizarre spacecraft (hovering, surface visible beneath), surrounded by impossible biomorphic structures and gleaming monolithic towers. Alien city skyline in the distance, translucent fog at ground level, ethereal golden lighting from the left, surface patterns etched with alien glyphs, organically curved architecture, ornamental towers shaped like coral or sea creatures, wide angle scene composition, cinematic depth. Female figure with elegant posture and sharp cheekbones, skin glowing with vitality and health, sleek reflective bodysuit in violet and gold, expression of serene control and mystery, man with strong jawline, tailored silhouette, hands behind his back, gaze forward. --mod jim burns style --mod high-gloss organic surfaces --mod intricate surface detailing --mod smooth contour shading --mod radiant edge lighting --mod surreal retrofuturism --mod 1980s airbrush aesthetic --mod jewel-toned palette --mod soft ambient bloom

More about Embassy of One

Earth did not send him because he was small.

That was a mistake the city would have made if it had been stupid.

Ambassador Cael Voss stood on the glyph-floor with his hands behind his back and
eight hundred colonized skies folded into his black coat. No soldiers showed behind
him. No gunships on the horizon. Earth knew better theater. Empires did not always
arrive shouting. Sometimes they sent one well-cut man into the mouth of another
power and trusted silence to mention the fleets.

The city shimmered around him, coral towers and gold light, a single world grown to
the limit of itself. Perfect, maybe. Terrible, certainly. It had made architecture out of
nerve and law. Its streets breathed mist. Its doors opened only for meanings. Its
ship hovered before him like a question bred in a trench.

Then she came through the arch.

Not envoy. Not ornament. Not a symbol cheap enough for humans to file. She was
the city's edge sharpened into a person. Violet and gold, skin lit like health had
learned geometry, her suit rhyming with the towers so exactly that the fact arrived
before speech: here, civilization did not separate body from building. One planet.
One organism with cities for bones.

Earth was not that.

Earth was swarm. Scar. Appetite. Archive. A thousand parliaments under different
suns. Bad music in seven million bars. Prison moons. Orchard worlds. Shipyards
eating asteroids. Children born in drums who had never seen rain and still claimed
weather. Earth was too much of itself to wear one face.

So they had chosen him.

Not the strongest. Strong would insult. Not the kindest. Kind would be chewed. A
man with no visible weapons, standing where every sensor could count his pulse,
carrying enough treaties, crimes, and concessions to keep two civilizations from
mistaking restraint for weakness.

She stopped where neither world had yielded ground.

"Are you alone?" she asked.

Cael smiled without teeth.

"No."

Above him, ships waited with engines cold and crews ordered not to twitch. Behind
her, a planet watched through walls that may have been alive. Neither side lied
about power. Good. Lies made first meetings greasy.

"You stand alone," she said.

"I was selected," he said.

Her eyes narrowed a fraction. The city lights turned one degree toward blue.

There. She understood.

One was not less than many. Many was not greater than one. Power had shape.
Earth could surround, outbuild, replace, lose ten cities and make eleven excuses
before breakfast. Her world could concentrate. It could make one person, one ship,
one threshold so dense with meaning that an empire had to slow down or become
barbaric in public.

Cael did not bow.

She did not invite him in.

Perfect.

At last she lifted one hand. The glyphs under his shoes woke like knives
remembering names.

"Then speak," she said, "with all of them behind you."

Cael stepped forward once.

The floor allowed it.
