Like her husband, the Eldest Son is not a practitioner of the dark arts and, being devout, she is leery of the family members who are practitioners. She endures her husband's alcoholism because she loves him - and because her position gives her access to the family's wealth, which allows her to do good works on a grand scale. She is unable to bear children, but she and her husband are too much in love to part, though his father and grandfather demanded it.
