According to legend, King Midas was given the ability to make a wish by Dionysus, the god of wine. Midas wished that everything he touched would turn to gold. At first he was happy with his new power, but soon realized it was a curse, as he could not eat or drink without turning everything into gold, including his food and his daughter Zoë.
This myth is known as the story of "Midas's touch" and is a classic example of the dangers of ill-considered wishes
