In John 21:15-17, Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves Him. Each time, Peter affirms his love for Jesus. This exchange illustrates not only the love between Jesus and Peter, but also the importance of our love for Him.
As we go through life, it can be easy to become distracted by many things. We may become focused on our careers, our families, or even our hobbies. While these things are important, they should never take priority over our love for Jesus.
Just as Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him, He asks us the same question. He wants us to affirm our love for Him, not just with our words, but with our actions as well. We can show our love for Jesus by obeying His commands, serving others, and spending time with Him in prayer and worship.
When we love Jesus, we are also able to love others more fully. We are able to forgive those who have wronged us and show compassion to those in need. Our love for Jesus empowers us to love others in a way that is selfless and sacrificial.
So today, let us affirm our love for Jesus. Let us make Him the priority in our lives and seek to obey His commands. As we do, we will experience the fullness of His love and be empowered to love others in the same way.
