As its name states, the series depicts an Undine's transformation from an elemental in the imaginal / daimonic realm or Noosphere and into physical reality as a physical being ; by its self-englamoring, the Undine makes humans believe that it is a living, breathing human woman - and a very beautiful one.

In fact, when elementals appear on the physical plane, they can become anything physical, since they are intrinsic to physical reality, even as they possess minds at once individuated and collectivized. However, elementals exist in dimensions beyond the four that we denizens of space-time know. Hence, it is said that they dislike existing within the bonds of physical reality.

When they are encountered, the motives of elementals are nearly always inscrutable, but it is believed that they typically appear on the physical plane in order to do the bidding of some powerful magician.
