ArtistCulinary still life rendered full-screen, spotlit from the top, sharp-focus, macro-view, close-up and in watercolor. The subject of the frontal-viewed still life is a banquet table covered with a sumptuous, pink-and-cream, intricately floral-patterned jacquard tablecloth. The banquet table is laden with preciuos, mismatched plates and bowls of fresh fruit cut into reafy-to-eat pieces. Each plate and bowl contains a different fruit: watermelon, bananas, apples, raspberries, blueberries, pineapple, cantaloupe, papaya. In the middle of the table, towering over the bowls and plates, sits a breathtaking carved-watermelon centerpiece. The carved watermelon is shaped like a pagoda and is carved with unprecedentedly intricate detail. The festive banquet still life is painted all the way to the edges of the unframed paper. The culinary scene is lovingly, deftly and painstakingly rendered in diaphanous watercolor with extreme, ornate, exquisite detail, with some outline details highlighted in pen-and-ink, like a biology illustration. The dark-pink-and-green wall in the background is rendered in quick, wet-on-wet watercolor. Prize-winning biology illustration in a style reminiscent of Simonetta Occhipinti, Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Jakob Demus, Hildegard Könighofer and Margareta Pertl as well as Siobhan Larkin. Museum-quality aquarelle sketch on heavy handmade rag paper.
