More about Green Woman : Grigori Witch 1 - Very Good portrait backstory TRENDING

This is the mother of the "Green Woman : Human Witch 1" in this series. She looks much younger than her fifty years due to her occult powers.

She chose to breed with her daughter's father because he was so brilliant, but she came to fall in love with him ; even though he was a human, he possessed the recessive Grigorii gene as a heterozygous "carrier," and the couple hoped their child would be Grigori, but it was not to be.

When her tribe of Green Circle witches found out that she had borne a human child in secret, they forced her to reject the father wholly and with great cruelty. The alternative was the man's death, so she complied. In the end, though, it made little difference, because in the following year, the heart-broken father became addicted to opiates all on his own, i.e., after surgery on his sinuses, and within five years he was dead.

She never loved another man, resisting calls by her tribe to mate with suitable Grigorii. In fact, she rarely associates with others in her tribe or with any Grigorii, choosing to live as a recluse except where tribal membership requires it. Like many Grigorii, in her youth she used her precognition to win a lottery, but like all wise Grigorii she was careful to keep the winnings relatively low, in her case 68 million dollars after taxes. "Monster hunters" are known to investigate big lottery winners, hoping to identify Grigorii.
