Self-recognition started for the child. There arose wonder about the separations between bodies in the community. Some were allowed within the home, others bouncing periodically at the entrance with letters and food and questions. Still more were held in distant places framed on the screens throughout the home. Far away lands, each with their own flavors that wafted through the screened scenes, yet all moved similar to the peoples throughout the community. A question had reached the child from some unseen entrance. The child asked their parent plainly, “Where do babies come from?”. The parent looked skyward in wonder searching for the words.
The weather was restful. The parent’s pulse quickened for a moment with surprise then grew steady. The parent leaned on memories to fuse words that illuminated the issue. There was a timelessness to the question yet simplicity in the answers. Thinking it would be better tell a tale, the parent thought to mingle truths and fables to induce the topic.
The parent brought their gaze from the heavens to the child’s eyes. They shared with the child that when the dad and the mom want a child the dad finds a fruit seed. The dad picks a seed that is from a tree that shares traits and skills that speak to the dad. The dad places the chosen seed on the belly button of the mom. With enough care and time the seed takes root within the mom and grows.
The action of planting the seed links the mommy and the daddy who are then expressed by the seed within the mommy. The pair are formed together within the mommy. The babies emerge green from the mommy and in time look like how the babies in strollers and cradled in arms around the community. The parent embraced the child with all four arms as the child rested on their lap. A breeze washed over the moment, slipping in through the open living room window.
