** Dr. Spywhere **
Dr. Spywhere in the garden,
Rain upon his lens, not pardon.
A kiss at dusk — not wife, not she —
But someone else… in heels times three.
He scanned across the daisy path:
Two wine glasses. One lipstick half.
A silk scarf hanging from the tree…
A muddy heel by potting pea.
Dr. Spywhere in the garden,
Crouching by the fern,
Finds more tiny secrets
Than most could ever learn.
He doesn’t rant or gossip,
He doesn’t knock or shout —
He simply backs up evidence
Before the Wi-Fi’s out.
A shopping bag with frilly lace,
A coat that didn’t match his face.
A bracelet etched “To darling C.”
The kind of clue you shouldn’t leave.
One single glove upon the gate,
The dog ignored him — that was fate.
A shoeprint on the compost bin…
With polish rubbed to hide the sin!
So if you see him near the rose,
Adjusting garden gnome’s small nose,
Just smile and wave — but know, my dear:
Dr. Spywhere saw it crystal clear.
You can deny the lipstick…
But not Dr. Spywhere in the tree.
