A song born from a treasured cheese fondue night. The warmth lingers.

** The Memorable Cheese Fondue (A Selfie for Debbie) **
We drank wine that teased the tongue
Melted for the cheese,
I baked fresh sourdough —
which should’ve been older,
but wasn’t. (Too pity!)
Farcloud unwrapped the Swiss Army knife
Layer by layer
until even the toothpick made sense.
And I — I nodded sincerely.
We leaned in — elbows in cheese
Phil blinked
I looked worried (I’m such a bad model!)
Farcloud looked holy
The camera shook,
but we all just fit:
A selfie for Debbie.
Phil had lost his car
(He’ll explain later)
I was too careful with the cheese
— criminally so, apparently.
We poured another glass
Tore the bread like it had been through war
The pot hissed,
but no one minded.
We leaned again — over plates,
over stories we’d heard before
I smiled late
Someone said “wait”
but the picture was taken anyway
A selfie for Debbie
with everyone in
(I even looked… not disastrous)
It’s the kind of night
that doesn’t need a chorus
Just cheese,
good bread,
and friends you once met in the cloud
but now you pass the wine to.
With love, Aífe
