Artista dark, foreboding forest where a lone figure stands, eyes glowing an eerie green with envy. The figure is surrounded by shadowy, distorted images of people and objects they covet. These images are like phantoms, constantly shifting and just out of reach. The forest is dense with twisted, gnarled trees that seem to whisper secrets and lies. Slithering around the figure’s feet is a massive serpent, its scales shimmering with a sickly green hue, representing the consuming nature of envy. The air is thick with a greenish mist, and the sky above is overcast, casting a gloomy pall over the scene. The figure’s face is twisted with longing and resentment, reflecting the torment of their desires.
A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot. (Proverbs 14:30)
For where envy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every kind of evil. (James 3:16)
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. (1 Peter 2:1)
You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
- James 4:2-3
