Isaiah 6:8 (NIV) - "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'"
In Isaiah 6, we witness a transformative moment when Isaiah encounters the holiness of God. Overwhelmed by his own unworthiness, Isaiah cries out for forgiveness and purification. God graciously cleanses him and then asks, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" Isaiah responds with humble surrender, saying, "Here am I. Send me!"
Isaiah's divine calling teaches us important lessons. Firstly, it reveals God's faithfulness in choosing and equipping imperfect individuals for His purposes. Despite Isaiah's awareness of his failings, God saw fit to cleanse him and call him into His service.
Secondly, Isaiah's response reflects a heart surrendered to God's will. He willingly offered himself, ready to go wherever God would send him and speak whatever message God would give him. Isaiah's obedience and willingness to be used by God serve as an inspiring example for us today.
Just as God called and commissioned Isaiah, He continues to call and commission His people today. May we, like Isaiah, respond with surrender, embracing our divine calling and trusting in God's faithfulness. Let us offer ourselves willingly, ready to go wherever He leads us and speak His truth to the world.
