ArtistA moon-lit night under a starry sky. A wide view of a towering cone-shaped volcano with hardened black lava flows running down its flanks. On a rocky outcrop a castle with paper-thin walls that look like they were made from frozen fire in hues of yellows, oranges and reds. The castle walls glow faintly. Standing on the steps to the front gate of the castle, seen from behind are Agatha and Dogula. Agatha, an anthropomorphic German spaniel with uniform glossy reddish-brown fur that shimmers in the light. Agatha wears an elegant dark green dress and carries a brown leather bag on its right side with the strap of the bag draped over the spaniel's left shoulder. Dogula, an anthropomorphic Transylvanian hound. Dogula wears black robes and a black cloak with a high collar and prominently shows his long canines protruding past his lower lip. Facing them in the open doors of the castle stands an anthropomorphic fire salamander in flowing robes of a firey orange-red hue.
Agatha Misty and Lord Dogula arrive at the School of Fire Magic. They are met by Archmage Brenda Campfire. She is very upset by something.
“This is all my fault! I should have warned you!”, she exclaims almost as soon as she has greeted them.
“How is any of this your fault?” Lord Dogula asks.
“He was a student here, not one of our best by a long shot,” Brenda Campfire explains. “He was rude and unruly, especially towards our female staff. But the worst part is, that one of our teachers caught him drawing a forbidden symbol on the floor. He was immediately expelled and warned never to do that again. But we refrained from reporting him, thinking it was just a juvenile prank. If we had but known!” Brenda Campfire wrings her claws in distress.
“What symbol did he use?” Lord Dogula asks in alarm.
“Of all the evil symbols he could have chosen, it was the worst,” Brenda Campfire whispers fearfully. “It was a pentagram!”
Lord Dogula gasps. Agatha misty is shocked, she has never seen Lord Dogula show this much alarm before and cannot imagine anything so evil that it would shake her wise and stoic companion.
“What does that mean?” she dares to ask.
“It means that the school of magic we all thought was destroyed centuries ago is operational once more,” Lord Dogula explains. “The School of Death, the School of Forbidden Knowledge, the Darkschool... there are many names for it.”
