Today I went swimming at my local pool ("More" Leisure centre). I noticed that they now have a notice up in the changing rooms "No shoes. No mermaid tails. No diving." (Etc... other standard pool restrictions). Luckily it doesn't say "No kaftans" or "No wedding dresses", since I have frequently enjoyed swimming in both (but not at the same time, lol.) I understand the "no shoes" policy, since we all want to keep the water clean, but "no mermaid tails"? Perhaps they don't want to risk some kid or noob trying one and getting into difficulties (hey, don't they teach butterfly stroke anymore?), but it suits (lol) me since once you've tried one it's not as much fun as it looks (I made mine out of a pair of rainbow silk culottes I bought at Barbara's, by sewing the legs together and the ends up.) Wedding dresses and kaftans are just as swirly and as much fun to swim in anyway :) :) :) As far as boho skirts go, they do tend to creep down your legs and get tangled round your feet, so it's best to wear a belt (or braces) with them. They are fun though. Hint: if they get too tangly, tie a knot in the end of the skirt, to avoid turning into Ophelia :)
