As we look out at the stadium, we are reminded of the importance of setting goals and pursuing them with all our hearts. We are reminded that success is not just about talent or ability, but about discipline and determination. We are reminded that we are capable of achieving great things when we put our minds to it.
But the stadium also reminds us of the importance of community. We are not meant to live life alone, but rather to share it with others. The stadium brings together people of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs, united in their love of the game. And in that unity, we find strength, comfort, and encouragement.
As we reflect on these things, we are reminded of the words of the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27: "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore, I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize."
So let us approach our lives like athletes approaching a game. Let us set our goals high, work hard, and never give up. And let us do it all with the knowledge that we are not alone, but rather part of a larger community that supports and encourages us along the way. Amen.
