As a teacher, it is not uncommon to have stacks of exercise books to mark. The workload can be overwhelming and at times, it can feel like there is no end in sight. It can be easy to become discouraged and feel as though there is no way to get through it all. However, as a Christian, we can find encouragement in God's word.
In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
In this passage, Jesus invites us to come to Him with our burdens and weariness. He promises to give us rest and to make our load lighter. As a teacher with stacks of exercise books to mark, it can be easy to forget this promise. We can become so focused on the work that we forget to turn to Jesus and find rest in Him.
It is important to remember that our work as teachers is not just about marking exercise books. Our work is about helping our students grow and learn. We have the opportunity to make a difference in their lives and to impact them in ways that will last a lifetime. When we focus on this, it can help us to find meaning and purpose in the work that we do.
As we face the stacks of exercise books to mark, let us remember to turn to Jesus and find rest in Him. Let us focus on the impact that we can make in the lives of our students and find joy in the work that we do. May God give us the strength and encouragement that we need to face each day with joy and purpose. Amen.
