Farewell can be a bittersweet experience. On one hand, we may feel sadness and grief as we say goodbye to someone we care about deeply. On the other hand, we can also find hope and comfort in knowing that our loved ones are in the hands of a loving God who cares deeply for them.
Recently, many of my friends left Hong Kong and went to other countries, there’s unavoidably a sense of loss and longing. I do miss their presence, their laughter, and their companionship. However, I can also take comfort in knowing that they are not alone. God is with them, guiding them, and watching over them every step of the way.
In Psalm 121, the psalmist reminds us that God is our helper, our protector, and our guide. He never sleeps, and He is always watching over us. Whether we are coming or going, He is there with us, providing us with strength and protection.
Whenever we have to bid farewell to our friend, let us hold onto this promise of God's presence and protection. Let us trust in His unfailing love and faithfulness, knowing that He will never leave us or forsake us. And let us also pray for all our friends, that they may be strengthened and encouraged in their new journey, and that they may continue to find hope and comfort in Jesus Christ, no matter where life may take them.
May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, both now and forevermore. Amen.
