  • Prompt: Aati's full name was Johan Adolf Huhta. He was originally from the rural community of Kemi. When he arrived at the newly completed residence for people with intellectual disabilities, he was already 45 years old but had the understanding of a child. Since he was the first resident of the facility, it was named Aatila in his honor. In the following days, the remaining 20 residents moved into the facility, including Aati's wife Tiltu and their sons Yrjö and Kallu. He was assigned his son Yrjö as a roommate, who was so crippled in his legs that he could not walk or even crawl; instead, he spent his days sitting in an armchair designed for him (picture 7), and was so underdeveloped that he did not speak and could not eat without being fed, nor did he even initially know how to chew food. Additionally, he suffered from some kind of convulsion, during which he would flail his arms and hurt himself. Aati himself was subject to falling sickness and was significantly mentally impaired, but by nature, he was gentle and a devout man who diligently prayed to God.
