Prompt: A tupilaq was made in secret at night, and could consist of animal material such as skin, bone, tendons and sometimes parts of the bodies of dead children. Ultimately, the statue was brought to life with ritual chants and mantras, and by touching it with its genitals, or as our guide kept saying, “with its manhood”.
Using a tupilaq was risky. If the one to be killed had stronger magical powers, the tupilaq could be sent back and kill its creator.
