( илья репин садко в подводном царстве )
style Quan Chi
It is the story of Sadko, a merchant, adventurer and musician from Novgogrod, an area between Saint Petersburg and Moscow. Sadko liked to play the gusli, a Slavic stringed instrument. One day the tsar of the sea heard his music and enjoyed it. The mighty tsar decided to offer Sadko some help to make him rich. He advised Sadko to make a bet with some local merchants that he could catch a goldfish in the sea. The Tsar of the Sea would give him this special fish, which would make Sadko win the bet and become a rich merchant. And so it happened. Sadko became very rich and traveled by sea. But part of the agreement between Sadko and the Tsar of the Sea was that Sadko would respect him appropriately, something he forgot as time went on. The Tsar decided to intervene and put Sadko's ships in the sea. Sadko and his crew tried to appease the Tsar with gold, but were unsuccessful. Instead, they realized they had to sacrifice one of their men. They drew lots and by lot Sadko got the lot that made him the human sacrifice. He had to jump into the sea where he entered the Tsar's underwater kingdom. There he played his gusli again. The tsar danced enthusiastically to this music, which made the sea rougher, making life difficult for the sailors. The sailors prayed to the patron saint of the sailors who decided to mediate and asked Sadko to stop playing his gusli. And if the underwater czar would not allow it, he had to threaten to break his strings. However, the Tsar had other plans. He had the idea to give Sadko hundreds of virgins, and then some versions of the story the virgins were all daughters of the underwater king, Sadko had to choose one of them to get married, and it's this moment that we see in this painting. To the right, surrounded by marine life, is Sadko. He is supposed to choose one of the girls offered to him.
the story ends well
