Next to him in the crowded bar room, a beautiful young German woman with bobbed, raven black, wavy hair, dressed in the the 1920s height of fashion, admonishes the man for being such an a aggressive, brutish, grumpy old wolf of the steppes, and that he ought buy her a drink. We'll call the young woman Hermione. Several other patrons of the bar room look on in bemusement as they sit at the table and crowd around the odd couple - the Professor and Hermione, but the presence of the others fades into the dim light of the bar room and the haze of tobacco smoke. The painting is a thickly applied oil impasto painting dominated by the combined style of Amanda Clark, Amedeo Modigliani and Paul Klee; with minor influence by Zdzislaw Beksinski, Wassily Kandinsky and Kay Nielsen, and trace hints of the combined works of Rafal Olbinski, Martin Johnson Heade and Hanna Yata. The painting is surreal and minimalist representation. The detail of the table, the drinks on the table, the Professor and Hermione are fine and elegantly rendered but the background fades in to darker tones and coarse palette knife strokes.
