The dusk dissolves in brushstrokes soft and deep,
While violet waves rock Chelsea’s distant shore,
The bay begins its quiet, steady sleep,
As daylight fades and shadows stretch once more.
Upon the weathered pier of rustic wood,
He leans against the rail, his gaze inclined,
Enchanted by the moment where they stood,
Yet lost to thoughts he leaves completely blind.
But she is captured by a different light,
The tiny, glowing screen within her hand,
A modern anchor in the quiet night,
Untethered from the water and the sand.
Two worlds collide beneath the fading skies:
One seeking warmth in what is standing near,
One wandering far, with half-distracted eyes,
While twilight paints the secrets of the pier.
