The House on the Koi Fish's Back
Far from all maps, where the water never ends, a giant fish with golden scales swims through a world of silence. On its back stands a small house, crooked yet full of warmth. Inside it lives an old man with a tea-like heart and a voice that speaks only to the waves.
He doesn't live on the fish. The fish has been carrying him since they found each other—one morning when, overcome with grief, the man left the shore and simply walked into the water. The fish took him on its back without a word, and since then they have never been separated.
He hangs up his laundry, he drinks tea, he gazes into the fog. Sometimes he speaks to dragonflies, sometimes to the sky. The cat on the roof—no one knows where it came from—purrs with the wind.
