More about A Free Humorous RPG Adventure! (see description)

Noticing I had 27.5k likes, and having recently delved into using AI to craft mini RPGs, I decided to celebrate with something more than just a image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16dXAezA1ipF3G-nAbzJUBNhQLattxT7h/view?usp=drivesdk

That's a link to a tongue-in-cheek RPG adventure about, well, what the title says. Very tastefully written. As for what the rest of this is..

This is a quickie article on using FREE AI tools and APPs to create an RPG adventure module. To begin you need to know:

The upscale image you see was created off-site using Gemini.

The text in the attached PDF was created off-site using ChatGPT.

HOW TO GET STARTED
As with all AI generators Prompting is the key that opens the proverbial door. To get a targeted result often requires you write a VERY DETAILED instruction. This instruction should not merely be a directive, it should be a GUIDE to help shape the output.

This is the prompt I used to generate the raw text output:

“Create a fun whimsical paranormal fantasy adventure module called: "Magic Unicorns Pooping Rainbows"; the scenario is for OSR style pulp-inspired RPG "PARANORMAL INVESTIGATIONS & OCCULT MAYHEM"; basic Game Mechanics: the stat scores range from 1 to 6, there are six character attributes: BRAWN, PERCEPTION, BRAINS, AGILITY, MOXIE, and APPEARANCE; their are four primary character classes: PARANORMAL INVESTIGATOR, NINJA CHEERLEADER, GOTHGIRL WITCH, and BAREFOOT GYPSY; magic is called WEIRD with casting a spell requiring a PC to state their intended action and roll 2d6 against a Difficulty rated from 1 to 6 with any roll of 10+ indicating a perfect spell casting; basic conflic resolution is roll 1d6 + relevant attribute + skill bonus (if any) vs Difficulty Target Number (TN), average TN ranges from 1 to 20 with 30 (impossible) the top TN; create MENTAL FORTITUDE and SANITY rules fitting these mechanics; The Adventure: This is for 1 to 3 player characters, is set in and around a Gothic Mansion, and involves the characters rescuing unicorns and riding them into the sky on rainbows at the end. Include sample player characters and NPCs with stats and descriptions, provide stats for the Unicorns, and a few random encounters.”

I want you to pay close attention to the details about game mechanics and what is specified for the AI to create. To craft output specific to YOUR game the AI needs to have specifics about your game. That’s why I included the game mechanics, which are a synopsis of an draft document of Core Rules for PIOM previously posted here: https://deepdreamgenerator.com/ddream/7a0vnnnt8km

You can read both documents and compare. How close did the adventure posted here come to the tone and flavor of the original rules? How would you improve the prompt to get better results?

Once you have your output the fun begins, by which I mean editing. In this case I had to convert MARKDOWN into HTML convert the HTML file into a PDF then load the PDF into WORD and convert it to DOCX to edit and add images then, because it’s a free instance not paid, SHARE it to E-Mail as a PDF.

Yes, that’s more steps than necessary. But it works, and it used free tools/APPs that you probably akready have. Additionally the PDF had a much smaller file size than if using other methods. BTW: If you think this is too much work consider this little factoid: I created ALL of this using a smartphone.

The two images were generated using Gemini. The title page is simple enough, no explanation needed. You have probably created similar Dreams. However the illustration was more involved and yet amazingly simple. If you have ever wanted to use AI to illustrate anything this is how I did it:

To Create Thornwick Hall

Step 1: Copy-and-paste the full page description of the Thornwick Hall rooms.
Step 2: Add a prompt directive like “Create an illustrated fantasy role-playing game floor plan of” to the beginning of what you copied into your chosen AI platform.
Step 3: Generate image.
Step 4: Place image into doc file.

That’s pretty much it. Just be aware that using DDG will likely net you better quality images, especially using the PRO models. I created this more as a proof of concept to demonstrate it can be done.

For you GMs out there, and anyone else interested, that’s a quick and dirty method of creating a PDF of your own game content. I wont say it’s easy, because there is a lot involved in the process. But once you learn how to generate the results you want it does seem to get simpler. Really, it does. Most of what I am posting was created days prior to it being posted here. So simpler, but moderately time consuming. Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your RPG or RPG adventure or illustrated novella likely be completed in a day.

Again, I would suggest using DDG for a more professional result.
