ArtistA large cavernous hall with a shiny black marble floor and shiny black marble walls with no windows. Several massive golden chandeliers illuminate the scene. A staff made of ebony with a ruby inset at the top leans against the wall. On the floor, in the center of the room, a blood-red pentagram. A circle of salt surrounds the pentagram. A blood-red candle burns at the center of the pentagram and five blood-red candles burn, one at each of the points of the pentagram. At the far end of the hall, the double-doors made of mahogany are wide open. In the air above the center of the pentagram a glittering insubstantial archway with a blood-red pentagram at the top. Violet, a large purple demon. Blake, an anthropomorphic british bulldog in a bottle green, Victorian-style suit. Blake holds a staff made of poplar wood with an amazonite gemstone inset at the top. Mel, an anthropomorphic otter in a traditional Swedish suit. Mel holds a staff made of aspen wood with a chrysocolla gemstone inset at the top. Acacius, a mysterious figure in black robes and completely obscured by a black cloak. Acacius' face is not visible, shrouded by the cloak, only two glowing red eyes are visible beneath the hood of the cloak. Acacius holds a metal staff which glows in a mysterious rose gold color. The staff has a bloodstone inset at the top. A bright light emanates from the bloodstone. Notos, an anthropomorphic white-backed vulture in shabby black robes. Agatha, an anthropomorphic German spaniel with uniform glossy reddish-brown fur that shimmers in the light. Agatha wears an elegant dark green dress. Agatha holds a knife in her paw. Athena, an anthropomorphic elderly tabby cat with green eyes in red robes and a red cloak, carries a sheath attached to her belt. Purrsephone, an anthropomorphic orange and roundish cat with amber eyes in red robes and a red cloak, carries a sheath attached to her belt. Blake and Mel stand flat against the wall. Acacius flees through the open doors, he is seen from behind. Violet, Athena and Purrsephone pursue Acacius, they are also seen from behind. Agatha lies on the floor and scatters the salt of the salt circle with her paw. Notos extinguishes one of the red candles.
The fight rages for a few tense minutes. Athena barely manages to dodge a blast from the Archmage's staff. Then the demon fully materializes in the pentagram. It looks around then screams “Destroy the pentagram! Break the salt circle! Extinguish the candles!”
At first, this sounds like the last thing that any sane person would want to do. But then it dawns on Agatha Misty that as long as the salt circle is intact and the candles are lit, the demon is controlled by the Archmage and must do his bidding. She doubts the demon can be very happy about this arrangement. Dodging another attack from the Archmage by throwing herself on the ground.
“No!” the Archmage screams in distress, as she scatters the salt forming the salt circle.
Notos has come to the same conclusion as Agatha Misty has, he leaps towards a candle and extinguishes it.
Immediately, the demon leaps towards the Archmage. Terrified, the Archmage flees from the Chamber of Rituals. Athena, Purrsephone and the demon pursue him but by the time they reach the door, he has vanished into the vast maze of the School of Death's underground tunnel system. If they attempt to pursue him, they will only get hopelessly lost.
