The malleability of memory matches that of the consuming form. VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, and flash media are as rigid as the systems that share their contents. The static forms made to store memories and stories contrast with the fluid nature of organic media systems from eyes and neurons to genes and cells. There are likely layers of reasons for the instability of organic memory. To which self do the memories belong and when do we become someone else remembering a moment shared by the present form? Much the same way as imagined moments bridge thought to touch the way sketches become skyscrappers and CAD models become cruiseships. The dynamic self is deep and the forms expressed mirror selves lingering in thought intangible.
