Rolling hills fill the bottom fifth over the entire width of the image. They are a dark purple, with accretions of small, yellow dots where lights have come on in villages. Above the hill line, the dusky sky is a medium turquoise color, fading to baby blue and to darker blue toward the top of the image. The sky is interspersed with dramatic, wind-swept, scudding shreds of clouds lit from the below by the sun, which has just slipped below the horizon. The bottom of the clouds close to the horizon are bottomlit with a rich, glowing golden-orange. The tops of the clouds are blue-gray-lavender. The intense, transparent, orange-golden glow of the clouds almost jumps out at the viewer. The clouds higher up gradually lose color and become fully grayish-lavender. The clouds at the top of the image are barely discernible, as they are more or less one with the sky. Stunning, breathtaking, museum-quality painting, deftly and masterfully executed. Executed in cinematic photorealistic contemporary Impressionism and a mix of styles borrowed from Hawase Kasui, Claude Monet, and Erin Hanson. Snapshot of a single moment in time.
