In the back of the picture, across the entire width of the picture, there is a low brick wall. In front of the low wall is a bed of strawberries with green leaves and ripe red strawberries. There are many gray mice in the bed, some crawling between the strawberries, most biting the strawberries. Behind a low wall, where the top brick is missing, the head of an orange-and-white cat peeks out, watching the swarming mice. Green bushes in the background. Oil on canvas.
The cat noticed an unusual swarming while on her rounds. She looked over the low wall and was intrigued by the mice gorging themselves on strawberries. Seeing the mice feeding made her want to eat something too.
