(See other descriptions for backstory). Then I thought, "Why not represent the nodes of the state machine by plushies, and the links by them holding hands". So I did, and it's prettier (but not very technical, lol). I don't think Rational Rose or UML Edit have a Plushie option, then again I could always write a plugin :)
