The Adventures of Arthur & the Teddy Bear: Tree of Dreams #8
Arthur could not believe all that was happening. But what if the tree fulfills his every wish? A lot of incredible ideas immediately spun in his head: tons of licks and cookies, ice cream, chocolate, lots of toys, a huge swing in the yard. Oh, what a swing - a whole luna park! He dreamed of flying in a hot air balloon, traveling on an incredible sailboat, flying to the moon, to the stars...
Arthur wanted many things, but most of all at that moment he wanted to go home.
"Arthur, why don't you go on your own, huh?" Teddy Bear said.
"Don't you want to go home?" Arthur was surprised.
"Of course I do. But who knows what that tree can really do? Maybe it will turn you into a cat too. But I'm happy to be a Teddy Bear."
"I don't want to be a cat," Arthur snapped back. "All right, I'll go alone, if you're scared."
"I'm not scared. I'm just..."
"I understand !" Arthur didn't listen anymore and just left. He was excited by the very possibility that some unknown and incomprehensible mechanism of nature could just create what you imagine in your head. All his dreams were mixed up in his head. Because of this excitement, he no longer understood what exactly he wanted to ask.
He came close to the trunk and touched it with the palm of his hand. Suddenly, a pleasant warmth enveloped his hand and passed through his entire body. A light flashed under his palm. It was so strong that it shone through his hand. Powerful golden rays quickly flew upward along the fibers of the tree. They passed through the mighty branches of its crown to the very top, sending an unrealistic glow into the sky. Arthur pulled his hand away, but it continued to glow, releasing a trail of hundreds of fireflies and fire moths that scattered through the forest and filled the darkness with light. A few more seconds and it abruptly ended. Just as it had begun.
"Arthur! How are you!?" Teddy Bear exclaimed eagerly.
"I’m fine. But what about the wish? Why didn't it come true?" he turned to cat.
"Are you sure you had only one wish?"
"At that very moment, I think I thought that I wanted to get out of this forest and go home"
"Oh! Ha-ha-ha," laughed Mrs. Cat. "Silly boy. Just one wish! And you have two of them. Finding your way out of the forest is one. And to get home is the second!"
"But still. Wishes don't happen literally. Only in fairy tales it's so easy," Mrs. Cat said with a smile. "You have to understand that a wish is just an opportunity that we get. But it is up to us to take advantage of this opportunity and use it well. That is, you have to make an effort, and then your dream will come true, no matter how difficult it is."
"The further, the merrier. Well, Teddy Bear, let's go. It seems our adventures continue."
"Goodbye, young travelers. You can always come back to our magical glade," said Mrs. Cat, jumped up into a tree and dissolved into it.
