Both Pino Daeni (1939-2010) and Zinaida Yevgenyevna Serebriakova (1884-1967) were genre painters who specialized in the everyday lives of women and children. I thought combining them might produce a good image. I had several really good results, but this one was the best.

Here in the southern US we already have climate refugees - primarily, but not only, lower income people who have lost everything they own to floods, fires, hurricanes, and tornadoes. And here in the Gulf coast as the waters rise and the storms increase in intensity, we lose more and more ground - for homes, for productive agriculture, and for people's livelihoods of all kinds.
