I was trying to determine how I learned the lyrics to a folk song written in 1897 (by Arthur Lamb/Henry Petrie) when I found this reference in Wikipedia's "In Popular Culture" addendum:
"The song is widely used as a running cameo in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends, usually with the excerpt "Many brave hearts are asleep in the deep, so beware, beware"."
Well ok then. That is no doubt where this avid fan of Rocky and Bullwinkle got it. Here are the lyrics I was familiar with:
...
Loudly the bell in the old tower rings
Bidding us list to the warning it brings.
Sailor take care! Sailor take care!
Danger is near thee, beware! Beware!
Beware! Beware!
Many brave hearts are asleep in the deep so beware! Beware!
