Fields of Thyme
n' Fields of Sunflowers,
She could spend hours
n' hours there.
Listening
to the birds
watching the bees
go from flower
to flower,
while all towered
over her
nodding
as if in agreement
as she stepped
along the way
to discover what
else may be there
like a fox
skirting
along a
trail, but
only catching
sight of
his bright
red tail—
grasshoppers,
blackbirds, finches, too,
canaries and other
birds who
give their warning
call, then fly away
wary of her presence,
when in essence
they've nothing to fear—
she only came
to be near all
in peace
for awhile
strolling through
the four square miles
she was inclined
to want to stay.
