Pool day at the insane asylum. Patients jumping in and having fun, but the pool is empty. Says the supervising attendant (speech bubble): "If you are really good, we will fill it with water tomorrow!" A hyperrealistic, highly detailed painting in the style of Hieronymus Bosch depicts a surreal and macabre scene within what appears to be an ancient, dilapidated city. The focal point is an empty swimming pool with a cracked bottom, surrounded by strange, gothic architecture with crumbling spires and grotesque sculptures.
In the upper left, a robed figure with a dark hood, goggles, and what looks like a breathing apparatus, holds an open book and addresses the scene. A speech bubble above them reads, "If you are really good, we will fill it with water tomorrow!". This figure stands on an elevated platform with ornate railings, below which two static, pale, sculpted figures sit on a bench.
The empty pool area is filled with a bizarre assortment of beings. A pale-skinned man with an exaggerated grin and wearing a simple hat and shorts is captured mid-air, jumping into the dry pool, arms outstretched in excitement. Another skeletal-like figure with bony protrusions and an open mouth crouches near the edge of the pool, also appearing ecstatic.
Within the pool itself, several figures are "swimming" in the dry, cracked bed, creating splashes of dust or imaginary water.
