ArtistA Roman-style upper floor living room, with a Roman-style cot for sleeping in the corner and a rough-hewn Roman-style table for eating in the center. On the table a terra sigillata style eating bowl with a steming broth in it. A stair leads to a workshop below. At the top of the stair, several anthropomorphic ants in Roman-style tunics and armor holding spears and with gladius-type swords belted to their sides. Artemis, an anthropomorphic fully white cat in red robes and a red cloak, carries a rapier in a sheath attached to her belt. Artemis stands behind the table. Craig, an anthropomorphic wizened old mole in a brown cowl fastened with a black cord. Flint, an anthropomorphic fox in a brown cowl fastened with a black cord. Flint and Craig stand on either side of the table, bending over the bowl examining it.
Artemis has sent for help to the School of Earth Magic, the school of magic nearest to Antonesia. To her surprise, Archmage Craig Marble himself answers her request for help. He brings with him Flint Beastwood, an experienced teacher at the school. Together, they examine the strange pottage. They determine that the magic is not in the bowl, but in the pottage itself. They agree after some very cautious tests, that the pottage is imbued with some kind of spell that not only keeps it fresh and warm, but also would cause the person who eats it to lose their free will. They would instead become a puppet of whoever cast the spell.
“So this is how Lord Laverno controlled the smith!” Artemis concludes.
“This is very concerning,” Craig Marble explains. “Such magic is evil and banned by the International Magical Council. This can only mean one thing: the School of Forbidden Knowledge is once more operational.”
