More about Alien Portrait 000-A : Unknown Species with Backstory BesT

This image reproduces mural art found at a dig site on an undisclosed colony world, a site dating back about 200,000 Terran years.

Many archaeologists speculate that this image depicts a Xenomorph, but there are important differences. The subject seems to have antennae that are connected to the background, like the interface antennae used by neuro-pilots, as well as other features that *look* technological, such as the details on its forehead.

However, the artwork is too stylized to be sure of any of this, and besides, there are no known Xenomorphs with the augmented nervous systems like those of neuro-pilots, nor are there any in the Xenomorphs' (admittedly scant) archaeological record. In fact, there are no known species, then or now, that look like the subject of this portrait.

Adding to the mystery is the fact that no corroborating remains have ever been found for Xenomorphs or any other species resembling this mural image. Instead, the dig team has established that a species of minor predator, dubbed the Xeno-Fox, evolved on the world and built the structures at the dig site complex (like many species, the Xeno-Fox did not survive its Industrial Age, becoming extinct due to catastrophic climate change).

For this reason, some scientists believe that the image seen here might be a religious ikon, while others think it represents a mythological or demonological figure. Several scientists have suggested that the portrait might have commemorated a visit from an alien species.
