ArtistHybrid 50% animal 50%: diamondback terrapin turtle (Malaclemys terrapin) x string of turtles plant (Peperomia prostrata) Full width 16:9 biology zentangle illustration filling the entire image width of a hybrid diamondback terrapin turtle (Malaclemys terrapin) x string of turtles plant (Peperomia prostrata) creature. The intensely green and diamond-patterned succulent leaves of the hybrid hang down in long strings in a rock garden. Every single leaf is a separate, tiny terrapin turtle ready to snap at insects and spiders. The background is a gray and brown, intensely patterned rock garden. The hybrid creature is very strongly patterned in many shades of green and ochre. The unusual, beautiful hybrid is a biological oddity portrayed in extreme detail. Each colored pencil stroke is painstakingly executed and follows an ultrafine zendoodle and zentangle pattern. At the edge of the full-width illustration, the zendoodle patterns exhibit a style like that of famous contemporary zendoodle artists. The fully melded hybrid creature is illustrated in a style resembling that of contemporary biology illustrators and fills the entire width. Extremely detailed, intricate, naturalistic illustration.
This hybrid was supposed to look like a plant with long string of leaves that look like turtles. Instead, even on the tenth try, it came out as a turtle with vegetation on its shell. I hope you like it anyway.
