ArtistA mosaic made entirely of small pieces of stone, in the style of Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, in brilliant high-contrast glassy colors, with gold outlines, of the open ocean just before sunrise, with fairly high waves, mostly in shades of purple in color, to the horizon, also picking up some of the warmer colors from the sky. The sky has mostly dusky purple clouds, with a soft, wispy texture that looks like altocumulus or cirrus streaks. Beneath these, the sky transitions into soft salmon color. The clouds are stretched horizontally, which gives the whole scene a sweeping, layered feel. Closer to the horizon, the clouds show a slight hint of amber to indicate where the sun lies below the horizon. The brightest spot is a small glowing slash of yellow-orange just above the horizon, slightly left of center, where the sun is about to rise (but is not shown). On the left side, a patch of pale blue sky peeks through between the clouds, adding a cool contrast to the warm tones. The colors are all subtle and in good harmony and not at all garish.
